General Instructions (For All Procedures)

✔ Always inform us about your current medications, allergies, and medical conditions.

✔ Let us know if you are taking blood thinners, diabetes medications, or heart medications—your doctor may give you special instructions.

✔ Avoid food or drink (including water) 6–8 hours before most procedures, unless advised otherwise.

✔ Arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you home after the procedure, as sedation may affect your ability to drive or travel alone.

✔ Bring all relevant medical reports, scans, and prescriptions on the day of your procedure..

Procedure-Specific Guidelines

1. Upper GI Endoscopy (EGD / OGD)

Do not eat or drink anything for 6–8 hours before the test. Avoid chewing gum, candy, or smoking on the day of the procedure.

If you have diabetes, ask your doctor about adjusting your insulin or tablets.

Remove dentures, contact lenses, or jewelry before the procedure.

2. Colonoscopy

Diet:

2 days before: Switch to a low-fiber diet (avoid raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts). 1 day before: Take Light meals (water, clear soup, tea/coffee without milk, apple juice).

Bowel Preparation: You will be given a prescribed bowel-cleansing solution. Drink it as instructed (usually in divided doses the evening before and morning of the procedure). Expect frequent loose stools—this is normal. Do not eat or drink (except approved clear liquids) after midnight before the procedure.

2. Capsule Endoscopy

Do not eat or drink anything for 8–10 hours before swallowing the capsule.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing to accommodate the recorder belt.

After swallowing the capsule:

Avoid strenuous activity.

You may drink clear fluids after 2 hours and eat a light meal after 4 hours.

Do not undergo MRI scanning until the capsule has passed naturally.

🚨 Important Reminders

  • If you develop fever, severe cough, chest pain, or any illness before your procedure, please inform us immediately.
  • If you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, let us know before scheduling the procedure.
  • Always follow customized instructions provided by your doctor, as preparation may vary depending on your health condition.
